To often I come across a bunch of dribble about Acapulco being "sweltering, torrid, stifling, etc." during the rainy season [which corresponds to the northern hemisphere's 'summer time'], and I would like to take this opportunity to get it out there, that this just ain't so!
The blast-furnace conditions that our northern neighbor has been suffering this summer unfortunately puts matters in perspective. Acapulco is warm [hot to those who endure the four seasons north of the Mason-Dixon line, and this includes our European visitors as well], but more than a few Texans came down this summer to escape the heat! because if anything the temperature AND humidity in Acapulco is more the same year 'round, that's right it's the same.....than anything else you can say about it.....what we do look forward to is the rainy season and its respite from the long periods of bankable sun, day after day. The summer months break this with recurring tropical showers mostly at night, and, if thye're in the daytime, the squalls usually don't last long or hamper any activity in the resort at all!
Not to be misconstrued, the climate is warm [all
year long] and traditional business dress can be very uncomfortable. But
Acapulco is a resort destination with a very casual dress code [there's
a code?] and frequent dips in the pool, all manner of shade, and use of
the beach are keys to an enjoyable vacation.
Still, the uninformed will continue to put off a summer visit, but please don't tell me because it's too hot. Early morning lows are often in the 70s in the middle of August. Hello Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, New York, etc.
